Singapore Night Festival

The last two weekends in August Singapore hosts a night festival in the Bukit Timah neighborhood which showcases local artists and performers.  Public buildings are lit with graphic images and the streets are full to bursting with mellow crowds.

Street performers included slack string 'dancers',
trampoline shows, live bands and the grand
finale: two escape artists freeing themselves
from two strait jackets while suspended from
a flaming cable

Jurong Bird Park

The Jurong Bird Park in western Singapore has some beautiful species like the black necked stork and the spoonbill along with a large collection of parrots and their relatives.

However, the most impressive areas of the park are the massive netted aviaries that you can walk into.  The lory aviary is 9 stories tall and you can fee the birds with a suet type mix.

These two were lining up for the suet in Bruce's
hands and the one on the left kept playing with
Jex's sleeve.

This fellow spent five minutes grooming Jex's hair... we think he must have liked the salt
